Building a brand these days takes a bit more than publishing a website a live and submitting to a few directories. It takes lots of new and great information that will get new fresh visitors to your website every day. Most importantly it is going to take time.
Online PR is a great way to spread the word on yourself, your business and your company. Online PR is just another ingredient in getting your brand in front of as many different eyeballs as possible. Building a brand online comes with many different variables and factors and having positive online press surrounding you or your company is an important step. In order to be able to grab the attention of your visitors it is important to have as many marketing arms sticking out online so that your audience can clearly see you. Proactive online PR will also help in proactive reputation management in the case you should have an irate past customer or employee that might attempt to slander your business or your name online. By targeting online PR your brand can quickly spread and gain traction in the search engines. As more PR is put out and distributed online its reach expands a little further each time and also allows your website to climb in the rankings for chosen keywords and phrases.
Online press releases work in many different ways and a proper online PR campaign will take time to mature. Online PR is a building a process but more importantly it is an ingredient. PR alone will work to a certain level but coupled with other online marketing efforts can significantly grow your brand.

To get people to find your website doesn’t really require you to look for tricks and easy and quick schemes. The internet is young and vulnerable but it is getting smarter and smarter as time goes. Slowly many bad apples will eventually be weeded out through technology and clean up efforts. With that said expanding your online publicity has to be done through a well thought out organic building process and that building process comes in many shapes and sizes.
One way that we have found that works great for online publicity; brand management is through building profiles, lots and lots of profiles. There are many social media sites that allow you to build great ranking profiles fully equipped with RSS feeds, linkage and many other goodies. Launching profiles for your business is a great way to increase your online publicity. If you are a company that sells products launch a Flickr account for your product line. You have the ability to pick a custom URL for your Flickr account along with custom tags that will help your profile rank in the search engines.
By exploring the different social media websites you can quickly expand your online brand and publicity through various profiles. If you are a company that is on a budget this is perfect because most sites allow you to build free profiles. This will add credibility to your brand and help with your online reputation. By engaging in these various online sharing and social sites your company profiles can quickly start to move around online for all your audience to see. Once they see these profiles they will have the ability to leave comments and really keep in touch with your organization. You can even take your profile building a step further by using keywords with your company information for ultimate search engine friendliness.

Just about every industry now has online magazines that can be used for publicity. I’ve seen them for real estate, technology, music, search engine optimization services, construction, insurance, and a host of other industries as well. These magazines often act as industry trade journals and serve the same purpose that off line trade journals serve. They can be used in much the same way.
There are essentially four ways to use these industry news magazines for online publicity:• Press release submissions
• Article and review submissions
• Sponsorships
• Advertising and link building
It’s no secret that the press release is an effective and powerful publicity tool. Whenever you have important news to send out about your company you should send it to your industry news magazines as well as the press release directories.
Another way to get publicity through online industry magazines is by submitting reviews and articles related to your company and its products. Reviews are better if written by another person not related to your company. Articles can be written by a staff member and you simply submit them to the industry news magazine staff asking them for their guidelines and whether or not they will publish such material. Many will. Some that do will only do so for their sponsors.
That brings me to the third way to get online publicity from your industry news magazines. Many of these magazines rely on sponsors to stay alive. They cannot do what they do without some form of compensation. The purpose they serve is to keep people in your industry updated on important changes and a lot of times they are owned by a competitor. That doesn’t mean they won’t let you sponsor them. You simply pay a certain amount of money every month or quarter for a link back to your website or a recommendation of your products.
Finally, you can also buy advertising or links from the magazines. In many cases, they will have a forum and all you have to do is join the forum for free. You can then post comments and reply to comments that others have made. This is often free. You may find a forum in your industry that allows comments only from sponsors or advertisers. If so, then consider it an added perk to your advertising.

You have built a website, published it and now what? Wait for customers to land on your website, pull out their credit card and start buying? If it where that easy I would be sitting on a beach in Maui with my sunglasses. Unfortunately now you have to get your website visible. Launching a website and not doing anything can pretty much guarantee you an invisible company.
A properly designed and executed online press release campaign will not make you rich but it sure will get the wheels spinning for your website to start climbing the rankings in the various search engines. You need to picture your website like an empty gas tank and it needs fuel to run and climb. This fuel comes in many different forms but one sure way is by writing press releases and submitting them through the various different online press release distribution websites. Once you have figured out that you want to promote your website through a press release campaign you need to map out your strategy. Putting together a 12 month outline on topics and keywords you want to target will allow you to stay on track with your campaign. Pick chose your vendors ahead of time so when it is time to distribute you don’t have to go and search around for distribution companies. Let Microsoft Excel be your best friend. Use nice bright colors and arrange the boxes so that you can keep yourself organized. When it comes time to writing you will be a few steps ahead of the game. By taking this approach with all your online marketing you can map out your entire online marketing strategy. Online publicity and website promotions in general require a great deal of information and you need to be organized to accurately execute all your tasks. Taking this approach will ensure one step closer to generating a power house of a website.
