After many years of your business operating smoothly you have recently noticed that business just isn’t coming in like it used to. Let’s assume for a minute the economy wasn’t falling out from underneath us and everything was just fine. You start to try to pin point the problem. You check out your customer service, that looks good. You check your delivery times for online orders, that looks on point. What could the problem be? After sometime you decide to search your name online and there it is, a black cloud of negative press!
There it is staring you in the face and hiding underneath your nose this whole time, customer complaints dominating the first page of your search results. They can come in many different forms such as review websites like Yelp or even customers who have their own blogs that decided to vent for whatever reason and if it is a Rip Off Report, forget it. Rip off Report could cripple your business entirely. There are ways to improve your search results but removing the bad press is next to impossible. Unless you find the person who wrote it and plead to have it removed or pay them off it is likely not going anywhere. By launching a series of reactive online marketing campaigns you can effectively improve your tarnished online image. Depending on the severity of the negative press it could take anywhere from 12 -24 months of serious online marketing to counter act the negative press. To effectively clean up any negative press for your company requires a large push of new positive press to flood out the bad. You will have to determine just how much bad the press is but in many case an initial large push of positive press is necessary. Launching free profiles and writing articles and press release is just the beginning but could be enough to successfully tackle the job. Writing articles and press releases and targeting your company can help you if the links have not anchored themselves in to deeply. There are many areas to build free profiles targeting your company name as well. Once this done link building these new links will be needed to drive power to those new links so that they cam swarm that black cloud of negative press and bump it out of the way.
Turning your back on it will only make it worse. As soon as you notice any negative press right away you must do something. If those links climb and age it will only get more difficult down the road.

For any growing business that is looking to expand online knows that it takes more than just launching a website and hoping people find you. You might be asking yourself, is online PR really that important? The answer is, yes!
Now if you try to base the growth of your online business entirely on PR than you will probably crash and burn and fail but if you take a strategic approach by incorporating other aspects of online marketing into your over all online marketing approach than you will probably do great. The more ways you have for people to find you the better and if that requires launching a handful of press releases every year along with other efforts than that is what it will take. A multi-pronged approach is what will allow you to see the best results. When combing other online marketing efforts with your online PR is when you will most likely see your website start to climb in the search engines. Online PR is like anything else, to much of one thing is never good long term, so it is important to always be adding other components to your strategy. Online PR is necessary to allow your website to grow and climb in the organic search results.
What are your goals with PR? Depending on what your goals are you might have to try a few different PR distribution services until you find the one that works best with your goals and expectations. You should attempt to try out a few different distribution services before you find one that works well with you.

Online publicity is something that you can apply for many different reasons to your online business than just the traditional motives such as a product announcements or events. With the existing online audience growing more and more business savvy each and every day the ability to ruins someone’s reputation has also become very easy to achieve.
Applying methods from online publicity proactively or reactively can help clean up your brand and image online in many different ways. By launching an effective online PR campaign you pump out so much new information online regarding your company you can effectively cover some of the bad press. All it takes these days is one disgruntled ex-employee and you can see your profits on the decline very quickly. Potential customers these days do not like to see any red flags of being either ripped off or mistreated and one sign of bad press could send them to your competitor. Online PR does not have to be done reactively but can also be done proactively. Most businesses will wait until things have already hit the fan to get started on the clean up but a well thought out online PR campaign could help you build up your reputation so that when things turn sour it doesn’t affect you. Down the road if anything should go wrong it is easier to take a proactive approach and have good solid PR campaign that has generated a great buffer between yourself and any bad press that might be lurking than it is to try to clean up your brand or image with an effective reputation management campaign. Press release marketing if done correctly can be very powerful and effective way to not only increase your business and also your brand awareness.
